What perfect timing. I landed in Salt Lake City, Utah on Thursday afternoon and the snow hasn't stopped since. Now I used to be quite a skier...but it has been over three years since I really got into some deep powder. I forgot the way it makes my thighs burn. I forgot how good it feels.
The altitude here is 7,000 feet in town and 9,000 at the summit. We didn't go all the way up, by friends had no sympathy for a flat-lander. We hiked a ways up the ridge of Park City Mountain to find the good stuff.
The pine cone area opens today for the first time of the season and the skies are clear. Check back tomorrow for more.
